In the Appointment Book Setup dialog (Setup Menu -> General) there are a few settings which can change the behaviour of background and text colour. These are:

  • Allow Theatre Schedule Change Colour
  • Appointment Background Code Colour
  • Appointment Text Based On Background (non-Codes)

Allow Theatre Schedule Change Colour allows Theatre Schedules to be coloured. With the setting off, all Theatre Schedules are an aqua colour, which helps to consistently identify them. This setting is off by default as most users are used to the aqua Theatre Schedules.

Appointment Background Code Colour means that the background of individual appointments with a code will be coloured in. With this setting on, if the code is a dark colour, the text will change to white. Otherwise the text will be the Code colour. This setting is off by default as most users are more familiar with the text being the Code colour.

Appointment Text Based On Background (non-Codes) will also change the text to white if the schedule is a dark colour. Note that this only applies to non-Code appointments (this is because otherwise the code appointment will have it's text or background as the colour of the code - so this setting is not relevant for these appointments). This setting is off by default as it does have a slight performance impact.

There is a screenshot below which demonstrates the last two settings. Note below where there are 2 schedules with light and dark backgrounds, and two sets of 3 appointment with non-Code, Dark Code and Light Codes:

The same appointments with Appointment Background Code Colour turned off. Note how the appointment text is the Code colour even if the background is dark.
