If you receive the error message:
Error Encountered During Print
(Red Hand image)
1. Ideally use File -> New Printer Setup -> Print Billing via MediLinkIt. The old print method and Crystals are not reliable anymore and not compatible with newer printer drivers. We understand some practices prefer the older styles, however, we have done a lot of work in the 2023 and 2024 versions to alleviate all of these concerns (so ensure you have the latest update).
2. Check the File -> New Printer Setup Paper/Source/Margin settings (printing outside of physical print area can cause the above problem).
3. Try and change to a PDF Printer (Microsoft PDF or Bullzip PDF recommended) and see if you can print anything there.
a. If the PDF does print successfully then it's likely a physical printer driver issue - go to step 3.
b. If the PDF does not print successfully, review the data of what you're trying to print, patient/invoice etc. as there may be invalid characters/corruption causing the error. Contact Medilink support if you cannot find anything obvious.
4. Install a new universal or legacy printer driver:
a. Go to Windows Printers and Add Printer
b. Choose the Printer I Want Wasn't Listed (even if it was listed)
c. Add a local printer or network printer with manual settings
d. You will likely be able to use an existing port (as you do already have this printer installed). If it's a network printer, use the TCP/IP address port etc.
e. Choose a universal driver or use have disk and navigate to an older (legacy) driver.
f. Go in to Medilink and File -> New Printer Setup and change to the newly added printer, then do a test print (bring up a Patient and Duplicate (CTRL+D) their last Invoice).
