Please be aware that in Windows 11 Notepad behaviours have now changed such that by default:


  • Documents open in tabs.
  • You are not prompted to Save on close.


Medilink sites using Free Notes will also be using Notepad (by default), and if you're not careful you can easily not save your changes to the Patient's Free Notes file.


For this reason we recommend going in to the Notepad Settings area (cog symbol top right corner) and setting:


Opening Files = Open In A New Window

When Notepad Starts = Start New Session And Discard Unsaved Changes*


(*This sounds wrong we know, but what it means is that you will be prompted to save when closing Notepad just like previous versions.)
